Hung Curd called as Greek Yogurt (health benefits)
Greek yogurt is a thick, creamy, and tangy yogurt made by straining regular yogurt to remove most of its liquid whey, resulting in a higher concentration of protein and probiotics compared to regular yogurt. This straining process also reduces its sugar and carbohydrate content, making it a popular choice for fitness and weight management diets.
Both offer probiotics and other nutrients, but Greek yogurt’s high protein content is beneficial for muscle maintenance and weight loss, whereas regular yogurt typically contains more calcium for bone health.
What does Ayurveda say about yogurt?
Ayurveda views yogurt (Dahi or Curd) as a valuable food with both nutritional and therapeutic properties.
- As per the Ayurveda, curd pacifies vata, but increases kapha and pitta.
